What’s been your biggest kitchen challenge?
We were spending a ton of money on groceries, easily ~$200 / week. A friend introduced a different meal plan service to us and while it was great financially, cutting our bills in half, as foodies we just couldn’t get excited about the meals. We stopped using that service and saw our grocery bills rise again, so I went looking for another meal plan service where were wouldn’t have to sacrifice taste.

How has Cook Smarts helped you with this challenge?
As a web & graphic designer, the appetizing photos allowed me to see what I was going to make ahead of time and the meals looked awesome! For people who love food and don’t want to sacrifice taste, but still want to cut their bills in half and make delicious ~30 minute meals, this service can’t be beat.

Tell us about your current cooking routine and how it’s changed over time?
We used to grocery shop 2-3 times a week. Since Cook Smarts’ Meal Plans comes with a grocery list feature, we now hit up Whole Foods on Sunday and are done for the week. It’s great!

What recent kitchen accomplishment are you most proud of?
I think gaining confidence with such an assortment of dishes. Cook Smarts has everything from Italian, Asian, Mexican, American to Middle Eastern. Having new things to cook each week is both fun and exciting.

What advice would you give to other home cooks that want to cook more?
Food brings people together. It may take some practice and discipline, but it’s worth it. I didn’t want to be stuck eating hot dogs and popcorn the rest of my life, so I asked my Mom to teach me a few years ago. Then I was lucky enough to find a wife who is a master in the kitchen. Food has been at the center of our relationship. We enjoy cooking together and love sitting down over a good meal. We’ve loved trying the new recipes that Jess has created. They are incredible and will bring you and your family closer together!

Thanks Peter for sharing your cooking story with us. You and Kelli are an inspiring couple, and I hope more couples follow in your kitchen footsteps!
