  • This recipe sounds great -- but I went to cook it tonight and realized there's no baking time listed. I typically cook tilapia for 12-15 minutes. Is that true here as well?

    • Hi Kara! Yes 12 - 15 minutes. Somehow our last step got cut off, but I've just re-updated the recipe. Thx for catching that!

  • Not a fish eater so is this something mild to start out with? Can you use other nuts maybe pecans? How many calories does it have? It looks good. Thanks. ;-)

    • Diann, this is super mild. You're going to taste a lot more of the nuts and sweetness more than anything else. Definitely feel free to substitute pecans. Enjoy!

  • I was wondering if you know of a good substitute for the egg wash? I cannot eat eggs or dairy. I loved that you have fantastic substitutes for some of the other things! Any advice would be great. Cant wait to try the recipe!

    • For this, I'd actually try coconut milk instead of egg wash. Since it's already a bit sweet, the coconut milk will go perfectly with it!

  • If I substitute the maple syrup for the brown sugar which do I mix the maple syrup with? The egg and water or the almonds?

  • Like all of the cooksmarts recipes I have tried, this recipe was easy to follow, turned out exactly as described, and was a hit with my 6-yr-old twins (who helped make it!).

    • I used loseit.com to calculate it, omitted the sugar, and for 3-ounce fish fillets it came to 450 calories per serving. The almonds do add a lot of calories to the dish
